I see where the Nebraska Access and Google sites could be very helpful in doing the research for speeches. These sites are easy to find and to use and the information that you can gain from these sites is excellent. I didn't know about these sources until I did this exploration exercise and now I see how easily you can overlook good research oppurtunities for writing speeches. These sites will come in handy for my research.

Typing the Self-Introduction speech really got me to thinking about myself. It sometimes seems like we get so wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of the world that we forget who we really are. I know that happens to me and it seems like when you have to sit down and think about yourself for an assignment thats when you realize that things have changed. You start remembing how things were when you were growing up and then you start thinking about how it is now, schedules jam-packed and full of stress and you wonder where all the time went. It really kind of weird how time can get away.

In my community (Ord), I went to the city council meeting to listen to their main speaker. The speaker was Bethanne Cunz, she is the president of the chamber of commerce and is pushing to get new sidewalks and streets put in around the square of the town of Ord. She uses her reputation as a president to get people to listen to her. She was also voted one of the most prominent women of Ord at the end of last year. This reputation helps to get more people to listen to her.

In my commuity I am planning to go to some of these events. The events include: the Ord City Council meeting, the Valley County Board of Supervisors meeting, the Valley County Historical Society meeting, the Valley County Hospital Board meeting, the Loup Valley Ag. Society meeting, the Ord Township Library Board meeting, Lower Loup Natural Resource District meeting, or the Loup Valley Rural Public Power meeting. I will attend some of these meeting to use for the community speaking events. Mitch Reineke
